A dozen demonstrators surrounded a bus of Google employees, blocking it for half an hour as it drove through San Francisco heading to the company's Mountain View headquarters. Hoisting signs saying “Public $$$$, Private Gains,” and “Stop Displacement Now,” protesters railed against tech-gentrification. At one point what appeared to be a Google employee jumped off the bus and said "Why don't you go to a city that can afford it?"—a stunt which later appeared to be faked by a labor organizer. The city has tentative plans to give corporate operators use of 200 bus stops, which will begin in pilot phase this January.
