Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl Pleads Guilty to Desertion

Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl pleaded guilty Monday to desertion and misbehavior before the enemy. Bergdahl was charged after disappearing from his base in Afghanistan in 2009. “I left my observation post on my own,” he said. “I understand leaving was against the law.” Bergdahl was held in captivity by the Taliban until he was released in a prisoner swap for five detainees at Guantanamo Bay.
