According to a new report by Homeland Security’s inspector general, Deputy Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas fostered “an appearance of favoritism and special access” by giving special treatment to wealthy foreign investors seeking visas and green cards. The report takes special aim at allegations of favoritism toward a Las Vegas casino project championed by Sen. Harry Reid and Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s electric car enterprise, which also involved Hillary Clinton’s brother Tony Rodham. The program under question, known as EB-5, offered a path to green cards for foreign investors willing to pour $500,000 into a job-creating U.S. business.
