A 26-year-old man boogie boarding in Cape Cod was killed in a terrifying shark attack Saturday. The victim, whose name has not been released, was in the surf off a Wellfleet beach when, according to witnesses, he started kicking at something behind him. “I was that guy on the beach screaming, ‘Shark, shark!’” Joe Booth, a fisherman who watched the attack unfold from the shore, told NECN. It was like right out of that movie ‘Jaws.’” The man's friend dragged him out of the water and onto the sand, where beachgoers reportedly tried to make a tourniquet while calling 911. Despite their efforts, the man died at a local hospital. There have been other shark attacks on Cape Cod, but this is the first fatality in the state in 80 years. Barnstable County Commissioner Ron Beaty said he is creating a task force to address the issue of sharks off the Cape. “I told everybody last year that this would eventually happen,” he said.
