The search for 23-year-old 2nd Lt. Hadar Goldin, whom Israel accuses Hamas of abducting in an ambush that violated a three-day ceasefire, continued on Saturday even as shelling in Gaza intensified. Hamas has refused responsibility for the disappearance, saying that the Hamas soldiers who were with Goldin died before the ceasefire took effect. “We believe all members of this group have died in an [Israeli] strike, including the Zionist soldier the enemy says disappeared,” it said in a statement. President Obama condemned the supposed kidnapping on Friday and called for Goldin’s immediate release.
