Shepard Fairey, the artist best known for his Obama Hope poster, has doubts about the intelligence of the maker of the Obama Joker poster, which has been plastered around Los Angeles in recent weeks. "It's not grammatically correct,” said Fairey. “It would be 'socialist' ... [rather than socialism] Obama is not Marx. He didn't create socialism." Fairey added that he didn’t agree with the politics of the poster, but recognized that it was effective in getting its point across quickly. No one yet knows who made the Obama Joker artwork. Summing up the situation, Fairey stated, "It could be possible that a right winger finally got hip to the idea that street art can get people's attention and be a valuable way to express a point of view.”
