A Florida mayor who allegedly shot at a SWAT team who raided his home on Thursday morning is also a “drug dealer,” Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco said in a press conference Thursday afternoon. Port Richey Mayor Dale Massad allegedly fired two shots at SWAT team members who were serving a warrant on Thursday morning, according to local news station WTSP. Nocco told reporters that one was injured during the incident. Massad was arrested and will face “multiple counts of attempted homicide,” he said. “He's lucky he's not dead,” Nocco said. “He shot rounds at us. That's why we had so many members of our SWAT team out there, we knew it was going to be a very dangerous situation.” Nocco also said Massad used drugs, was a “drug dealer,” and “had drugs in his house.” According to WTSP, Massad also faces charges for practicing medicine without a licence after he allegedly had patients come to his home for “treatments.” The mayor had his licence taken away in 1992. The sheriff's office said Massad is being held without bond because he is a “flight risk.”
