A barge crash on Saturday in Galveston Bay in Houston caused an oil spill of as much as 168,000 gallons, affecting a bird refuge along the coast and blocking traffic in the Gulf of Mexico. The spill comes during the height of migration season, and according to officials the affected water and shoreline are an area used during the migration. Sea traffic in the gulf on Sunday came to a standstill, delaying the docking of multiple cruise ships due to the cleanup.
