A shootout at a checkpoint in eastern Ukraine early Sunday broke the brief Easter truce that the Ukrainian government declared Saturday. At least one person is dead after the violence broke out in the town of Slavyansk near Donetsk, which had been under the control of pro-Russian separatists. The Ukrainian Interior Ministry said three people were also injured, but that the details of the incident were unclear. Yuri Zhadobin, one of the separatists managing the checkpoint, told the Associated Press he was with 20 other men celebrating Easter when four vehicles drove up at 3 a.m. and opened fire. "We began to shoot back from behind the barricades and we threw Molotov cocktails at them," Zhadobin said.
