Libyan rebels are once again retreating, having been turned around by Muammar Gaddafi’s forces at his hometown of Sirte. Should the U.S. arm them to help them further in their fight? That’s the latest debate: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says the U.S. has not yet decided, but that the U.N. resolution permits us to do so. President Obama told NBC News he was undecided: “I’m not ruling it out, but I’m also not ruling it in.” Meanwhile, NATO’s commander in Europe told Congress that there are “flickers” of reports that a small number of the Libyan rebels may have ties to al Qaeda.
