Government officials in Sierra Leone declared a five-day lockdown in the northern parts of the country on Wednesday as a part of an effort to control the spread of Ebola, barring Christmas celebrations. "Muslims and Christians are not allowed to hold services in mosques and churches throughout the lockdown except for Christians on Christmas Day (Thursday)," Alie Kamara, resident minister for the Northern Region told the AFP. Sierra Leone recently surpassed Liberia with the most reported cases of Ebola infections, in an outbreak that has claimed more than 7,500 lives.
