Silicon Valley venture capitalist Tim Draper is a man with a plan, and that plan involves splitting America’s most populous state into six different ones. And according to the California Secretary of State’s Office, that plan—which would split California into South California, West California, Central California, Silicon Valley, North California and Jefferson—now has the go-ahead to begin collecting signatures this week. Draper will need more than 807,000 signatures from registered voters by July 18 for the ‘Six Californias’ proposal to make it onto the November ballot. “Vast parts of our state are poorly served by a representative government dominated by a large number of elected representatives from a small part of our state, both geographically and economically,” according to the plan.
