Skepta, a British rapper in the grime genre, won the prestigious Mercury Prize this year, beating out albums from David Bowie (his final one) and Radiohead. “Thank you to everybody who was there for me when I was going through depressed times. I don’t know man, I’m so thankful,” he said while accepting the award. “With no record label we just traveled the world.”
