DreamWorks’s animated comedy The Boss Baby dominated the weekend box office for the second week in a row, raking in $26.3 million. The Alec Baldwin-starring vehicle has now bested Disney’s Beauty and the Beast ($25 million) for two consecutive weekends, with third place going to the debut of kids’ movie Smurfs: Lost Village’s negligible $14.1 million intake. The film had high expectations considering the success of the franchise’s first film, released in 2011, but with the opening weekend figures Lost Village is expected to chart as a disappointment akin to the second Smurfs installment from 2013. Fourth place for this weekend, however, went to Going in Style, a film geared towards an older audience, which came in ahead of studio expectations with $12.5 million in receipts.
