Colin Jost’s main target in his latest SNL “Weekend Update” segment was Elon Musk, the Tesla CEO and director of DOGE.
“Experts say that President Trump’s tariffs will raise the cost of a new car by as much as $12,000,” Jost said. “Or you can get a free Tesla, since people are throwing them away.”
Jost’s next joke unveiled a new nickname for the controversial figure.
“Tesla CEO and White Kanye Elon Musk…” Jost said. He had to pause to wait for the audience’s cheers to die down. The joke comes just a month after rapper Kanye West declared he was a Nazi who loves Hitler in a series of posts on X.
Jost continued, “[Musk] wore a suit instead of a jacket and T-shirt to this week’s cabinet meeting, after President Trump made fun of his clothing. It’s a refreshing reminder that bullying still works.”
Michael Che also took a few shots at Musk this week.
“On Thursday, Elon Musk’s SpaceX Starship exploded just minutes into its mission,” Che said. “Which is how he ended up with all those kids!”
Switching subjects, Che joked, “It was reported that the leaders of Great Britain and France have been coaching Volodymyr Zelensky on how to deal with President Trump. Kind of like how you need extra training to be a special ed teacher.”
Che referenced President Trump’s recent claim that no president has “changed government more in 43 days.”
“Yeah,” Che replied, “And nobody changed airport security faster than bin Laden.”
Drawing some groans from the crowd, Che joked, “President Trump also said that he signed an executive order to ban men from playing in women’s sports. But if men aren’t allowed to play women’s sports, explain soccer.”
Earlier in the segment, Jost jokingly agreed with Trump’s recent aggression toward Canada.
“Those syrup-guzzling, poutine-munching, moose-humping hockey sl-ts have taken advantage of us far too long,” Jost said.
Showing a picture of Mike Myers taking on the role of Musk at SNL, a role that had been previously held by Dana Carvey, Jost said, “Even right here at SNL, American sketch comedy jobs are being stolen by filthy Canadians.”
