Snowfall, Winds Batter Midwest

More than 4,000 flights are canceled.

If you haven’t raided the grocery store already, it may be too late. More than 4,000 flights have been canceled so far across the country as an enormous blizzard threatens more than 30 states. Missouri and Illinois could be hardest hit, with up to 30 inches. Forty-five mile-per-hour winds battered Kansas City; St. Louis received a wintry mix; and New York is in store for half-an-inch of ice and six inches of snow. "Do not travel! Stay inside!" the National Weather Service said in a warning. "Strong winds and blinding snow will make travel nearly impossible. This is a life threatening storm."
