An impending eastern snowstorm grounded 2,073 flights, delaying 6,448 more, and closed highways and state offices as major cities like Boston and New York prepare for between 5 to 14 inches of snow. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo ordered the Long Island Expressway closed at midnight Thursday with the threat of a "whiteout." Public transportation in New York has been reduced, and some Amtrak trains between Boston and Washington were canceled. Freezing temperatures are set to hit on Friday, with the lowest possibly going down to 4 degrees in Philadelphia.
