The storm canceled flights, caused power outages, and led to a 25-vehicle accident in Iowa, which killed two people. The storm also caused traffic deaths in Nebraska, Kansas, and Wisconsin; one woman died in Utah after walking to get help when her car became trapped in the snow. Tens of thousands of were left without power in Arkansas, Iowa, and Nebraska. Twisters formed in Arkansas and Alabama, destroying some houses.
