The family of a Utah soccer referee, who died after getting punched in the head by a player, held a vigil in his honor Sunday night. At least 100 family and friends held candles and signs on Ricardo Portillo’s front lawn, wearing shirts that said “In loving memory of Ricky.” Speaking to the crowd of supporters, Portillo’s eldest daughter, Johana, said it’s too soon to forgive the 17-year-old who unleashed his anger on her father. “I will, but not today; it’s too soon,” she said. The player accused of killing the ref is currently awaiting trial in juvenile detention.
