Socks Clinton Dies

White House cat lived to 20.

Someone prepare an official funeral: Bill and Hillary’s former cat, Socks, has died at 20. Socks had what the Los Angeles Times called a “Horatio Alger existence”—he was, at one point, a stray in Arkansas. He no longer lived with the Clintons at the time of his death, having been given to former president Clinton’s secretary Bettie Currie when he left office. The Clintons said in a statement: "Socks brought much happiness to Chelsea and us over the years, and enjoyment to kids and cat lovers everywhere. We're grateful for those memories, and we especially want to thank our good friend, Betty Currie, for taking such loving care of Socks for so many years."
