Close call. The Army says that Pfc. Naser Abdo, the soldier who was caught on Thursday with weapons and a bomb inside his backpack, has admitted to planning to attack Fort Hood. Oddly, though, Abdo had previously spoken out against the 2009 Fort Hood shootings. In an essay, he wrote that the shootings, in which an American-Muslim gunman killed 13 people, went against his beliefs, calling the attack “an act of aggression by a man and not by Islam.” Police said they were able to catch Abdo after receiving a tip from a clerk at Guns Galore LLC, where Abdo attempted to purchase six pounds of smokeless gun powder, three boxes of shotgun ammunition, and a magazine for a semi-automatic pistol.
