French authorities have reversed their earlier claims that the large cat they were tracking outside Paris was a tiger. The officials announced Friday that “the presence of an animal of the tiger species has proven to be excluded.” However, they do not yet know what type of large feline it is. The young animal spotted on the loose near Disneyland Paris was still at large Friday, and now soldiers have joined the search. Roughly a dozen troops have been added to the scores of French police trying to find the animal. They are armed with tranquilizer guns. The cat is believed to weigh about 100 pounds and was spotted first on Thursday by a local woman in a parking lot. It is still unknown where the cat came from.
