¡Buen día, Soledad! Journalist Soledad O’Brien will return to mornings, 7-9 a.m. EST, with a new show on CNN. Switching up its morning lineup, the TV network is naming O’Brien anchor of a conversational ensemble program. She will also continue to do long-form documentary work for CNN. O’Brien’s new show will replace American Morning, whose ratings have never been able to compare with competitors Morning Joe and Fox and Friends. A person familiar with the negotiations said O’Brien had been speaking with another network, which prompted CNN to step up its offer. Veteran journalists Ashleigh Banfield and Zoraida Sambolin will lead O’Brien’s show in the 5-7 a.m. timeslot.
