Solo: A Star Wars Story took first place in theaters this weekend but fell a whopping 65 percent from its first three days on the big screen, bringing in an estimated $29.3 million in North America. With a total domestic haul of $148.9 million, the Hans Solo spin-off has failed to live up to the box office successes of other Star Wars standalone films, falling short of Rogue One’s second weekend total of $286 million. Fox’s R-rated superhero movie Deadpool 2 stayed strong in second place in its third weekend with an estimated $23.3 million. In less than a month, the film earned a domestic haul of $254.7 million. STX Entertainment and Lakeshore’s romantic drama Adrift was the only one of three new wide releases to break into the top three, with $11.2 million.
