Solo: A Star Wars Story dominated theaters over Memorial Day weekend but failed to live up to the hype, with the worst opening weekend ever for any of the Disney-produced Star Wars films. The spinoff film, which follows Alden Ehrenreich as a young Han Solo, earned an estimated $101 million in North American theaters over the four-day Memorial Day weekend, far below analysts’ projections. Analysts had placed their bets on the film winning the best Memorial Day weekend ever, but it failed to dazzle even in overseas markets, where it earned a mere $65 million. Deadpool 2 was on track to claim second place, with an estimated four-day total of $54 million. Avengers: Infinity War followed behind in third, with $22 million.
