Somali Pirates Sentenced to Life

Well, at least they won’t have to walk the plank. Five Somali pirates were sentenced to life plus 80 years for attacking a U.S. Navy ship last April. The pirates were convicted by a jury in November. According to court testimony when the pirates were convicted last November, three of the five men opened fire on the frigate USS Nicholas. Their conviction marks the first time anyone has been convicted of piracy in the United States in almost 200 years.
