Somalia: Bomb Attack on UN Bus Kills 9

DEVELOPING

Police suspect Islamist al Shabaab militants.

At least nine people were killed after a bomb hit a U.N. vehicle in Somalia's Puntland region on Monday, according to police. Two Kenyans and seven Somali guards died in the blast, which targeted a bus carrying UN workers to the U.N. office. Six bystanders were also injured, said Mohamed Abdi, a police officer at the scene. Authorities suspect Islamist al Shabaab militants are behind the bombing in the northeastern city. The militant group has attacked the nation's U.N. officials over the past few years, most recently in the capital of Mogadishu.
