Get ready for a profanity-laced resignation, as rumors flew Monday night that White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel is going to resign his post as early as Friday so he can explore a run for Chicago mayor. Although Emanuel’s aspirations are pretty well-known, sources close to him said he has not yet made a final decision. Emanuel, known for his distinctive governing style and abrasive personality, has been considered one of the most loyal members of the White House since the beginning, but President Obama has given his blessing for his righthand man to pursue dreams of being mayor. Emanuel is just the latest of Obama’s team to leave, including National Economic Council director Lawrence Summers, who announced last week his intent to leave after the midterm elections, along with Christina Romer, Peter Orszag, Desiree Rogers, and Anita Dunn.
