SpaceX Test Rocket Explodes Midair

A test flight of SpaceX’s three-engine version of its reusable Falcon 9 rocket ended abruptly on Friday when the unmanned rocket self-destructed shortly after launch at a Texas development site. “During the flight, an anomaly was detected in the vehicle and the flight termination system automatically terminated the mission,” spokesman John Taylor said. “Throughout the test and subsequence flight termination, the vehicle remained in the designated flight area. There were no injuries or near injuries.”
