Christopher Tierney, the actor who fell 20 feet during a preview performance of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark last week "is fortunate to be alive,” according to his father. Tierney fell last Monday night when his safety harness broke and fractured his skull; broke his scapula, a bone near his elbow, and four ribs; bruised a lung; and fractured three vertebrae. Tierney underwent back surgery Wednesday and walked with assistance on Friday. Doctors are “cautiously optimistic” that he’ll be able to resume acting.
