M. Night Shyamalan thriller Split led the box office for the second week in a row, followed by A Dog’s Purpose, Hidden Figures, and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. This is the first time since the release of The Sixth Sense in 1999 that a Shyamalan movie has opened with two consecutive no. 1 weekends. Split's estimated sophomore weekend earned a total of about $26.3 million. Audiences happily greeted A Dog’s Purpose with an estimated $18.4 million from 3,059 locations. Three-time Oscar-nominated Hidden Figures crossed the $100 million mark with a weekend total of $14 million in its fourth week of wide release.
