Some like it hot. Some call it a “public nuisance.” On Wednesday, the Irwindale City Council in California declared the factory that produces the oh-so-popular sriracha sauce a “public nuisance.” The company now has 90 days to start reining in the spicy odors that have left townspeople gagging for air. If Huy Fong Goods Inc., the maker of the sriracha, doesn’t fix the smell issue by June 1, city officials can enter the factory and take whatever steps are needed to control the odors. Huy Fong lawyer John Tate said the declaration is just “the city flexing its muscle and thumbing Huy Fong in the eye.”
