After a dramatic comeback Thursday night that was widely hailed as one of the greatest baseball games ever played, the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Texas Rangers 6-2 Friday night to win their 11th World Series title. After reaching their final strike twice in Game 6, the Rangers missed their second chance in two seasons at winning their first World Series. Texas scored its only runs in the first inning, and the Cardinals tied it 2-2 in the second half of the inning. The Rangers' pitching melted down in the fifth, giving up two runs on a bases-loaded walk and a hit batter. The Cardinals' David Reese was named the series MVP.
