Another cruise nightmare: an Italian ship with more than 1,000 passengers and crew is being towed to safety by a French fishing vessel after a generator fire caused the luxury cruiser to lose power. The Costa Allegra, which belongs to the same fleet as the capsized Costa Concordia, was adrift in the Indian Ocean—in an area rife with Somali pirates—without air conditioning and almost without radio after the generator failed. All of the passengers are safe, according to the ship’s owner, and Italian authorities have sent four other ships to help the stranded vessel.
