A long time ago in a galaxy far away George Lucas built a Star Wars empire. But he relinquished the crown on Tuesday. Disney announced the $4.05 billion purchase of the production company for Star Wars, Lucasfilm Ltd., following up with the exciting news that a seventh series of Star Wars would be out in 2015. The acquisition of Lucasfilm will bring it under the Disney umbrella with the likes of Pixar, Marvel, ESPN, and ABC. While no details about the film have been released, Lucas will continue to play a part in its production. While fans may be dismayed, he says he was ready to turn the page. “It's now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers.”
