Starbucks Unveils Extra-Large Cup

Trenta size will hold 31 ounces.

Why drink your morning coffee when you can swim in it? Starbucks is introducing its new 31-ounce coffee cup size in May—just once ounce shy of McDonald's largest size. The golden arches have become competition to the coffee chain, with the introduction of a cheaper coffee menu. Starbucks’ new size offering, dubbed Trenta, will cost 50 cents more than the Venti size and hold seven more ounces of liquid. The new size also coincides with the announcement that Starbucks plans to extend to India in conjunction with the Tata Group. Starbucks outlets will be located inside Tata retail locations and will use premium Indian coffee beans. The international move is one of several changes Starbucks is making to try to recover from a 97 percent profit-loss from the 2008 market crash.
