Academy Award-nominated actor Don Cheadle looked summery for the launch of his first stint in the Iron Man franchise. The Hotel Rwanda star plays Lt. Col. James “Rhodey” Rhodes, also known as the War Machine in the sequel. Cheadle is replacing his Crash co-star Terrence Howard, who wore the armor in the first film.

The man who made Iron Man 2 a reality, director Jon Favreau celebrated the premiere of his year-long project Monday night at the star-studded event. “On my way to the red carpet,” he tweeted excitedly for his many followers also eager to hear what the sequel brings.

Her black Gianvito Rossi peep-toe ankle booties provided contrast with the metallic jacquard silk ensemble. Paltrow, who is reprising her role as Pepper Potts, Tony Stark’s best friend (or more) and business partner, added some extra shine with beautiful Chopard jewelry.

It’s been almost a decade since Samuel L. Jackson gave Marvel Comics his permission to design their “Ultimate” version of Nick Fury in his likeness. Though he had a very small role in a post-credit scene for the first Iron Man, it’s about time he take on a bigger part in the sequel. The actor, who plays the actor he physically inspired in Iron Man 2, rocked his signature hat and a casual, denim look.

After making a comeback with his Academy Award-nominated role in The Wrestler, actor Mickey Rourke signed on to play Ivan Vanko, better known as the main villain of Iron Man 2, Whiplash. Looking great in a casual suit, Rourke attended the premiere with his Russian model girlfriend, Anastassija Makarenko, who could have helped him with his character’s dialogue.

Also donning white Giorgio Armani for the Iron Man 2 premiere, actress Scarlett Johannsson looked angelic in her single-shoulder Privé sculptural organza dress. With a sparkly clutch, heels and Harry Winston earrings, the actress looked bold, sophisticated, and chic on the red carpet. “I was so lucky because I had Gwyneth to counterbalance all that testosterone,” the stunning star, who joins the franchise as the Black Widow, recently told the Daily Mail. “It certainly was a bit of a boys’ club.”
