A unique legal battle is unfolding in Connecticut with the case of a 17-year-old girl with Hodgkin’s lymphoma who was removed from her home and forced to undergo chemotherapy. The girl, identified in court papers as Cassandra C., had previously refused the treatment, a decision her mother supported. But the Department of Children and Families successfully petitioned a court for temporary custody of the girl and ordered her mother to cooperate. The case will be heard Thursday at the Connecticut Supreme Court in Hartford.
