Attorneys general and governors of states who defended banning gays from marrying before the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage are getting invoices from their lawyers. Attorneys in Michigan, for instance, are asking for $1.9 million on behalf of their plaintiffs. Kentucky racked up a bill of $2.1 million. Private lawyers who were on these cases often did their work pro bono and organizations like the ACLU are seeking reimbursements.
