RNC Chairman Michael Steele is unlikely to win any favors from Republican bigwigs with interviews like the one he gave Good Morning America on Monday, in which he expressed sympathy for Barack Obama and said he was held to a tougher standard because he’s black. “The honest answer is yes,” Steele said when asked if race had something to do with his troubles. “Barack Obama has a slimmer margin. A lot of folks do.” Steele said that he has “rubbed some feathers the wrong way” in the GOP with his “street-wise” style.
