Two Idaho business owners are suing a woman who accused them on Facebook of ignoring sexual assault at their restaurant. The owners of Stockman’s Restaurant in Idaho Falls say the woman’s post, in which she claims her daughter was raped by a restaurant manager and ignored by the owners, are false and caused them to lose business. They are also suing four other people who shared the post or wrote negative reviews on the Stockman’s Facebook page, claiming they suffered “lack of sleep, anxiety, weight loss, and other symptoms” as a result of the allegations. The woman, Carrie Joyce, told the local Post Register she is standing by her post. “I backed down in the face of lawyers when I was younger and in her shoes. I’ve regretted it since,” she said.
