A Vincent van Gogh painting stolen from Cairo’s Mahmoud Khalil Museum has been recovered by officials at Cairo airport. The artwork, titled “Vase and Flowers,” valued at $50 million, went missing Saturday evening. The painting measures one foot by one foot and depicts a flower scene originally painted by Frenchman Adolphe Monticelli. It is believed to have been painted by van Gogh around 1887. Two Italians were found in possession of the painting by airport security, on their way out of the country. Curiously, this isn't the first time that the piece has been stolen from the same Cairo museum; it was lifted once in 1978 before being recovered two years later.
