The news of Strauss-Kahn’s release Friday has some French political circles celebrating. The ex-IMF chief was once a top pick to be the next president of France—and some are saying he could make a stunning comeback and compete again. Party head Martine Aubry told journalists she hoped “American justice will establish the whole truth and save Dominique from this nightmare,” and predicted that he will “be present” in the presidential race. Another Socialist Party official called for the primary process to be halted until Strauss-Kahn’s case settles.
