Two strong earthquakes hit southern Spain in quick succession on Wednesday, killing at least 10 people, including a 13 year old. The quakes destroyed buildings and injured several people. In the southern town of Lorca, at least seven people were reported killed. "Unfortunately people have died as a result of cave-ins and falling debris. We're trying to find out if people have been trapped inside the collapsed houses," the town's mayor, Francisco Jordar, said. The epicenter was in the Sierra de Tercia area northeast of Lorca. El Pais said the quakes measured a magnitude of 5.1 and 4.5, but the U.S. Geological Survey measured one at 5.3.
