A North Carolina high schooler was shot and killed by another student Monday after the pair got into an argument in a main hallway, according to a report from WSOC9. “We’re incredibly saddened that we had a loss of life on one of our campuses today. What makes it doubly difficult is that it was one of our students who was the shooter,” Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Superintendent Clayton Wilcox said. “First of all, our hearts go out to the larger community and to all of the young people who witnessed this tragedy today.” The student at Butler High School—later identified by authorities as 16-year-old Bobby McKeithen—was rushed to the hospital, where he reportedly died of his injuries. The alleged shooter, reportedly identified as 16-year-old Jatwan Craig Cuffie, was apprehended and charged with first-degree murder. Superintendent Clayton Wilcox reportedly told The Charlotte Observer that the incident was related to “bullying” but refused to elaborate.
