Could Timothy Geithner be next? Rep. Edolphus Towns (D-NY) has announced he will subpoena the Federal Reserve Bank of New York for documents related to the bailout of AIG. The demand comes as part of the House Financial Services Committee’s investigation into the suppression by the New York Fed, which was led by Geithner at the time, of details relating to AIG’s payment of billions of dollars to banks like Goldman Sachs. The subpoena comes after the Fed told a bailout watchdog to not cooperate with the committee.
