Suicide Divides Kennedy Relatives

Battle lines had been drawn before Mary Richardson Kennedy’s suicide, but the feud between her family and the Kennedy clan grew more bitter Thursday. After being barred from entering the deceased woman’s house Wednesday by Robert Kennedy Jr., two of her sisters received permission from local police to enter the house and retrieve personal belongings Thursday. Kennedy and his wife had been estranged since he filed for divorce in 2010, and as the split was still not final, Kennedy has taken charge of funeral proceedings, planning a wake for Friday and rite of Christian burial on Saturday in Hyannisport. Mary Kennedy’s sisters, however, are planning a separate service scheduled for Monday in Manhattan.
