Legendary University of Tennessee coach Pat Summitt announced Tuesday that she has been diagnosed with early-onset dementia, Alzheimer’s type. Summitt, 59, has 1,071 career victories and eight national championships—the winningest coach in college-basketball history. Summitt said she plans to coach UT this season, her 39th, and she has the support of the school’s administration. “There’s not going to be a pity party, and I’ll make sure of that,” she said.
