The results are in: Eelections for this year’s Sundance Film Festival were released Thursday. The chosen movies represent a wide range of themes—but two of them will feature an unlikely hero: Twilight star Kristen Stewart. Runaways, in which Stewart plays Joan Jett, will grace the festival, along with Welcome to the Rileys, in which she portrays a stripper. Sundance will also feature a section called “NEXT,” which will feature eight low-budget American films—an homage to the arty roots of independent filmmaking. Otherwise, troubled teens will grace many Sundance screens, including Twelve, adapted from Nick McDonnell’s novel about the scandalous lives of teenagers on New York’s Upper East Side; Nowhere Boy, about John Lennon’s troubled early life; and Bilal’s Stand, about a Muslim teenager in a dysfunctional family.
