Paulina Porizkova is hitting back at people’s assumptions about her body at 61.

The supermodel, who posed for the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue twice in the ‘80s, replied to a critical comment with a multi-photo post this week.

In the Instagram post, she shared a screenshot of a comment that read, “Oh, God! When I see a supermodel who, at 61, looks waaay better than half the women I know in their 20s, talking about not having a flat stomach (because of a super mini pouch when she pushes her upper body down) or not having a fresh, beautiful face anymore, it honestly makes me feel very depressed.”

Porizkova often posts on her Instagram page about the realities of being in her sixties, including changes to her body and face.

In this post, she accompanied the comment with a shirtless mirror selfie of herself from the front, wearing only a striped bikini bottom.

In the following slides, the model, who married screenwriter Jeff Greenstein in July, showed her stomach from different angles.

In a video of her in a bed, she wrote, “This [is] what this supermodel’s stomach looks like—lying down.”

Next, Porizkova wrote about historic beauty ideals and how “soft and protruding” bellies used to be considered beautiful before the flat-stomach beauty ideal became popular. She added that people with all kinds of stomachs should feel beautiful too.

In the caption, Porizkova said the post was inspired by HBO’s new comedy, Youth, in which Sharon Horgan, 56, plays a divorcee searching for love.

Porizkova married The Cars singer Ric Ocasek in 1989. The couple welcomed two sons, Jonathan and Oliver, before Ric died in 2019. At the time of his death from heart disease, Ric was 75, and the couple was going through a divorce.

Some commenters wrote that they felt similar to the person who left the original comment.

“I understand the comment. I also respect your content—it’s smart, witty, and always beautifully photographed and filmed. I also love that you’re showing women that getting older doesn’t mean we stop being sexy,” one person wrote.

Adding, “But let’s acknowledge that you are basically in the top 0.5% of the most gorgeous humans on the planet. So when you complain about your body, some of us mere mortals can’t help thinking: ‘Oh, come ON.’”

“Just because someone else thinks you look good doesn’t mean you think you look good. Many of us have body issues that have nothing to do with reality,” one person commented.

Porizkova replied, “So true. And we are our own worst critics.”
